The brief

A pharmacy still running on paper.

Drugs4Delivery is a private online pharmacy. Patients complete an online assessment, speak to a UK-registered prescriber, and have their treatment delivered discreetly to their door. Everything is dispensed from their own GPhC-registered pharmacy.

Behind the scenes, though, private prescriptions were still handled on paper. Every one had to be written up by hand, passed to the pharmacy, checked and filed. Patients had no way to see what they had been prescribed or how much was left, so reorders and repeat requests meant phone calls and emails for everyone involved.

The brief was to rebuild the public website and give the whole prescription process a proper digital home: one system for doctors, pharmacy staff and patients.

Paper to digital

Rebuilt
end to end.

The biggest win is the least visible one: the time it takes to write and process a private prescription.

Before
  • Every private prescription written up by hand, then passed to the pharmacy to be checked and filed
  • Prescriber details, addresses and signatures re-entered every single time
  • Patients had no view of what they had been prescribed or how much was left
  • Reorders and repeat requests handled by phone and email, and matched up manually
After
  • Doctors create a prescription in minutes from the patient's record, with a live preview as they type
  • Registration details, working address and signature added automatically to every prescription
  • A signed PDF is generated instantly and appears in the patient's account the moment it is created
  • Patients order straight from the prescription, see what is left, and request more in a couple of taps
01

Doctor sets up once

Registration body, number, working address and signature are saved to the prescriber profile and reused on every prescription.

02

Prescription is written

Search for a drug, set the quantity, add further items. A live preview updates as they type, and a fresh authenticator code confirms the signature.

03

Patient orders

The signed prescription appears in the patient's dashboard, ready to order at exactly the right pack size and go straight to checkout and delivery.

What we built

One system,
three sides.

The public site, the patient's account and the clinic's dashboard all run on the same system, so nothing has to be typed twice.

01 · Public website

Assessments and bookings

A fast, clear front door for the pharmacy. Each treatment has its own page, and every service starts with an online assessment that a clinician reviews.

  • Treatment pages for each programme, from alcohol reduction to weight management
  • Step-by-step consultation booking with live clinician availability, seven days a week
  • Assessment, photo, medication and consent steps captured before the call
  • Built on Next.js and hosted on Vercel, with search-ready pages throughout
02 · Patient dashboard

Prescriptions, orders and repeats

Patients get a free, secure account where everything about their treatment lives in one place.

  • Every prescription shown with its signed PDF, pack size, price and how many packs are left
  • Buy medicines straight from the prescription, with quantities capped at what was prescribed
  • Request a repeat or book another consultation without picking up the phone
  • Message the prescriber and track deliveries from the same account
03 · Doctor tools

Digital private prescriptions

Writing a prescription went from a paper form to a short, guided screen, with the legal safeguards built in.

  • New prescription from the patient record, with drug search, quantities and multiple items
  • Live preview and a signed PDF generated on create
  • Mandatory two-factor authentication at login and again when signing, to meet electronic prescribing rules
  • Clinician notes that stay within the clinic
04 · Clinic dashboard

Running the pharmacy day to day

Staff work from one queue instead of a pile of paper, from a request coming in to the parcel going out.

  • Prescription requests and follow-ups in a single pending and reviewed list
  • Consultations, payments and patient records side by side
  • Order processing with Royal Mail labels, or handed over the counter
  • Analytics, offers, drug catalogue and staff access managed by admins

The site

Clear, calm and clinical.

Trust is the whole product for an online pharmacy, so the design stays quiet and lets the process speak.

The result

Prescriptions in minutes, not days.

The time it takes Drugs4Delivery to write and process a private prescription has come down dramatically. What used to be a paper form, a handover and a filing job is now a short screen for the doctor and an instant, signed document for the pharmacy and the patient.

Patients no longer have to ring up to ask what they were prescribed or whether they can order more. They can see every prescription in their dashboard, buy exactly what was prescribed at the right pack size, watch how much is left, and request a repeat or another consultation whenever they need one.

What used to be a paper form and a phone call is now a signed PDF and a button.
